Holiday Fun for the Whole Family Near Miami Beach

Living in Miami Beach, it may seem like Christmas will never arrive. With the sun always shining and temperatures soaring to the mid-80s, it’s hard to grasp that we are actually in December and that the holiday season is already upon us. However, families living in Miami Beach can cheer up, as there are plenty of holiday events going on close to home. No matter what winter celebration you celebrate, you will find an event or outing that will give you a dose of holiday cheer. Miami Beach and the surrounding areas have many fun holiday events that have already become tradition for residents. Zoo Miami’s Zoo Lights

Every year, Zoo Miami celebrates the holiday season with over half a million lights to surround attendees with holiday joy and spirit at Zoo Miami’s Zoo Lights event. From December 16th through December 26th, starting at 7 pm until 10 pm, visitors can take a night stroll through the zoo and enjoy nightly carolers and other festivities. Young and old alike will enjoy the dazzling lights decorating the trees and the bright animal-shaped lights along the pathways. The carousel will be open for the kids, and kids at heart, to ride. Santa will also be on hand to take pictures with all the good girls and boys; make sure to tell Santa what you want for Christmas! Admission to Zoo Lights is $9.95 per person. Each attendee will receive 3D glasses to see special effects hidden in the Christmas light displays.

George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® Performed by Miami City Ballet

The Adrienne Arsht Center in downtown Miami has created a yearly tradition with the presentation of the classic George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. Each year thousands of bright eyes and ears experience the timeless beauty of this wonderful theatrical performance brought to life by the Miami City Ballet. This holiday classic is the perfect holiday treat for the entire family. Set on Christmas Eve, in the city of Nuremberg, Germany, a young girl named Marie along with a Nutcracker Prince embark on a truly unexpected journey to an enchanted winter wonderland. The show features the sights and sounds of the season such as snowflakes, toy soldiers, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Create a family tradition, and see this spectacular show’s beauty unfold right before your eyes. The show duration is 1 hour and 54 minutes, with one intermission session. The show opens December 9th, and ticket are on sale starting at $25.

Santa’s Enchanted Forest

Kids of all ages will enjoy visiting the world’s largest holiday theme park and carnival this holiday season. Santa’s Enchanted Forest is located in South Miami’s Tropical Park, and features over 100 rides, games, shows, and attractions. The forest of lights is open every day from November 3rd to January 8th from 5 pm until midnight. Hundreds of visitors from across South Florida visit Santa’s Enchanted Forest every year to experience the nostalgia and magic of millions of dazzling lights, festive Christmas music, live entertainment, and South Florida’s tallest Christmas tree light show. This year marks the parks 25th anniversary, and is sure to be packed with many surprises. Single-day tickets start at $31.78 for adults and $22.43 for children; season passes are available and additional charges for food and carnival games apply.

Magical Snowfall at Dolphin Mall

Every night at 7 pm through January 8th children of all ages can enjoy a flurry of snow and fun at the Magical Snowfall at Dolphin Mall in Ramblas Plaza. This is the only place in South Florida where the forecast predicts a 100% chance of snow each day this holiday season. Additional snowfalls occur at 9 pm every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
